Another Insightful Evening at Brampton Park Golf Club

We had an incredible time at the Intermediary Network event on Tuesday, with a fantastic turnout from local recruitment agencies, developers, community groups, and many more. Huntingdonshire District Council successfully raised awareness about current and future plans and projects. Thank you to all those who attended.

The evening kicked off with a warm welcome from Nykki Rogers, Economic Development Manager, followed by an introduction to Nikki Burton, Business Development Officer and the newest member of the Economic Development team. Nikki highlighted her role in building strong relationships with Huntingdonshire businesses, discussing opportunities, challenges, and how Invest in Huntingdonshire can offer business support, inward investment and more.

Harriet Robinson, our Climate Co-Ordinator, shared how businesses can support the growth and sustainability of our towns through the Climate Strategy and Action Plan. Achievements between 2023/2024 include encouraging large organisations to trial Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) for their transport fleets and community planting of over 400 trees at Sapley Park. Harriet also introduced the Online ClimateHub, a valuable resource for local communities to tackle climate change and work towards Net Zero.

Our Chief Planning Officer, Clara Kerr, provided updates on the evolving Local Plan and upcoming consultations on growth models launching at the end of September. The importance of business and resident input in these consultations was emphasized.

We were also joined by Huntingdonshire District Council CEO, Michelle Sacks and Executive Councillor for Economy, Regeneration and Housing, Councillor Sam Wakeford, who answered questions from the floor on various topics and matters discussed throughout the evening.

The feedback from attendees was fascinating, with questions on keeping future generations in Huntingdonshire, addressing skills shortages, and the future use of the high street.

𝗦𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗲! Our next Intermediary Network event will be in December - stay tuned for more details. We’d love to hear your suggestions on topics you'd like to explore at future events, such as AI and how companies can harness its potential. Let us know what matters most to you!
